Aubrey holds a BS in Equine Science and a MS in Ag. Education giving her a thorough understanding of both the horse and the rider, and how they develop and learn. Aubrey specializes in producing well rounded horses and horseman— teaching physical skills of riding (using basic balanced position as well as exploring alternative seats and their theories, biomechanics and uses) as well as supporting the emotional connection and understanding of the animal, and relating these skills to everyday life.
Aubrey has taught mainly sport horse disciplines of dressage, eventing, hunter/jumpers but also has many years in beginner western lessons working towards reining, western dressage, pleasure and ranch horse work. In addition, Aubrey spent 3 years leading a therapeutic riding program focusing on students coming from trauma backgrounds in central Texas.
“My goal is solid horsemanship. Understanding not only how to ride, but how to care for horses and understand the needs of the horse as well as understanding them relationally. Focused as I have been on riding and care, I am always amazed at how our relationship with our horse can help us better understand our human relationships and traumas.”
Aubrey’s background in the US Pony Club as a member and Center Administrator as well as regional volunteer has given her a great appreciation and respect for horse management and it’s role in developing solid equestrians. Aubrey has vast experience with all age groups and specializes in beginner adult learners. She strives to teach these solid skills in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for all ages.
